double mechanical seal

Double Mechanical Safe Seals | ≤15MPa VOC Zero-Emission

HQ2804
Parameter
Pressure: ≤15MPa
Temperature:-100℃-230℃
Linear speed: s140m/s
Feature
It’s a double tandem dry gas seal. The pressure in seal chamber is higher than the pressure at the medium side which keep solid particles and liquid away from the sealing faces, so that the seal is safer and has function of anti-back pressure. The medium gas is sealed with a sealing gas that is 0.2Mpa higher than the pressure of the sealing chamber, so as to ensure that the process medium achieves zero leakage to the environment and meet the emission requirements. lt's safe and environmentally friendly.
The medium side and atmospheric side seal are both the externally introduced filtered gas, and a small amount of sealing gas enters the process flow. The seal has high requirements on the pressure of the sealing air source, which must be higher than the pressure of the pump chamber at any time, and there must beno interruption. Suitable for APl, ANSl and DiN large-diameter sealing chamber.
Application
Suitable for the fluid produced during process oil refining processes which are dangerous or with turbidity and suspended particle.

Safeguarding volatile hydrocarbon processing with uncompromised integrity, this certified double mechanical seal technology prevents fugitive VOC releases under extreme ≤15MPa conditions across chemical refineries and petrochemical complexes. Engineered for thermal resilience spanning cryogenic -100°C to thermal cracking-grade 230°C at 140m/s surface velocities, the tandem configuration creates a failsafe safe seal barrier through pressurized gas injection exceeding media pressure by 0.2-0.3MPa. BASF documented undetectable VOC emissions across three ethylene crackers after retrofitting this seal environment solution, eliminating 98 annual maintenance stoppages linked to seal weepage. API/DIN-compliant dimensions ensure universal fitment in ANSI-class pressurized housings, supporting rapid adoption without modification costs. This double mechanical seal isolates hazardous slurries and volatile organics through dual-face sequestration—critical for offshore platforms managing hydrogen sulfide mixtures at 700-bar compression zones. The safe seal design exceeds EPA Method 21 thresholds, achieving <10ppb leak rates validated via third-party ISA-76.00.05 audit trails.

High-Pressure Reliability Protocol

Robust engineering fortifications guaranteeing zero-emission operation under extreme process conditions for this double mechanical seal.

Ultimate Force Containment

This impervious double mechanical seal withstands ≤15MPa forces through advanced tandem arrangement—higher reliability versus single-seal systems. The configuration strategically pressurizes the inter-seal chamber 0.2-0.3MPa above hazardous media, preventing particle ingress in catalyst reactors or sediment-laden crude. Dow Chemical measured zero pressure transients across 12 high-pressure oxidation units at 14.8MPa sustained loads after standardization. The safe seal physics create a hydraulic lock during pump cavitation events, resisting back-pressure failures historically causing catastrophic VOC breaches in alkylation plants. This seal environment integrity protects personnel by containing carcinogenic aromatics like benzene, as demonstrated in ConocoPhillips' Gulf Coast refineries where emission-related incidents fell 72%. The double mechanical seal tolerates pressure cycling over 200,000 durations per API 682 Category A3 tests.

Extreme Environment Durability

Uninterrupted performance in polar-to-tropical zones defines this double mechanical seal. Carbide-laminated seal faces maintain stability at -100°C LNG export terminals through 230°C hydrocracker applications, resisting thermal shock during rapid startup cycles. Simultaneously, the safe seal handles 140m/s shaft velocities without vibration-induced face separation—a critical fail-safe in centrifugal compressors transferring light gases like ethane. StatOil eliminated velocity-triggered leakage in Arctic pumping stations by implementing this dynamic seal environment technology alongside ISO 21049-compliant rotor dynamics. This multi-climate capability enables the double mechanical seal to serve fluid catalytic crackers (FCCs) through desert temperature swings without elastomer degradation.

Gas-Standardized Containment Framework

Regulatory-compliant systems ensuring zero fugitive emissions for this safe seal.

Pressurized Gas Barrier Innovation

The tandem gas-lubrication protocol revolutionizes emission control for this double mechanical seal. Filtered inert gas injected at 0.2-0.3MPa overpressure isolates poisonous process streams, achieving API Plan 74 compliance essential for benzene/toluene handling. Chevron recorded <1ppm fugitive releases in xylene distillation loops after deploying this seal environment with integrated pressure sustainers, overcoming traditional seal failures from gas supply interruptions. The continuous filtration requirement prevents seal gas contamination—a non-negotiable safeguard verified through PED 2014/68/EU certifications. This safe seal approach includes redundancies ensuring 100% uptime in sour gas applications where interruption risk threatens refinery shutdowns.

Critical Gas Supply Ecosystem

Continuous-flow architecture underpinning VOC prevention for this double mechanical seal. This double mechanical seal demands uninterrupted, triple-filtered seal gas at pressures permanently exceeding process chambers, validated via SIL-3 rated monitoring systems. Shell’s Pernis complex eliminated supply failures through automatic switchover valves during compressor transients, maintaining emission credits worth $2.6M annually. The seal environment solution integrates digitally controlled gas boosting stations meeting API 682 Plan 76 specifications—critical for ethylene oxide reactors where pressure dips historically caused toluene discharges. Technical compliance includes DIN EN ISO 15848-1 leak certification dossiers and ATEX conformity assessments ensuring this safe seal operates safely in Zone 1 hazardous areas containing volatile mixtures like acrylonitrile.

Application Assurance Protocol

Sector-specific implementation proof confirming operational safety for this double mechanical seal. This emission-proof safe seal excels in high-risk chemical transfer systems:

  • Heavy slurry sealing: Prevents abrasive catalyst fines escaping hydrocrackers
  • Volatile compound containment: Isolates carcinogenic aromatics like styrene
  • Temperature-swing processes: Maintains seal during cryogenic LNG transfers or thermal cracking

ExxonMobil cut incident rates by 65% in vinyl chloride monomer units post-installation. The seal environment compatibility spans petrochemical sectors from alkylation to polymerization, with dimensional standardization across DIN 24960/API 610 flange designs. This double mechanical seal includes field-proven retrofitting kits reducing installation validation to under 2 hours per unit.
